En 1962, invited by Ror-Volmar, (a famous owner of Galleries in Paris) and Comte Prunell de La Bisbal, a group of 20 early admirers met and decided to form an association to support Guillaud and promote his work.
Since then, more than 40 years later, the association is still alive with new members joining in as soon as there is an opportunity. The limit of 20 members is strict, a waiting list ensures the renewal of membership.
The membership is composed of three categories of "friends" :
- the active members (20) who will acquire a painting every year
- the honorary members who have decided to cede there seat in the core category
- the affiliated members who are potential active members for the future.

To become an affiliated member, one has to own at least one painting from Guillaud and be sponsored by an active or honorary member.

A regular newsletter "La Lettre des Amis de Charles Guillaud" is published once a year as a link with all "friends" and also as an information vehicle with the public at large. It contains information pertaining to the artist, his recent production, new exhibitions, new projects, and the association it-self.

Once a year, in october, all members and friends of them meet at Guillaud's home for a very private exhibition showing all the new painting "en primeure". The President of the Association addresses the audience, giving an overview of what happened during the past twelve months and also future developpments.
