In his large canvases Guillaud leads us to reflect on our behaviour,
our way of being and living.
The paintings are sometimes mystical, often satirical, and always
deeply philosophical, without however being overly “heavy”.
These are not paintings that tell a story or show something specific,
but paintings which stand as a witness to the artist’s time,
taking the term “witness” both in the sense of being
a spectator and an examiner.
To look at a painting of human illusion is not a matter of a few
seconds. The shock effect is often immediate, but it is necessary
to go deeper, beyond the image, to discover the true sense of
the canvas.
It is up to everyone to make the effort to discover not a message
in the mystical sense, but the reflection of a gentleman at the
turn of a difficult century.
